[BABL AI] - The A.I. Audit Consultancy
The Synopsis:
Babl AI is an A.I. audit consultancy that has been founded Dr. Shea Brown; he leads a team of A.I. auditors, advisors, and consultants who audit socio-technical systems and policies of various organizations. There are three phases of the audit: scoping, audit review, and the final report. The scoping consists of conducting a documentation on the organization’s A.I. systems and evaluating its accordance with local, state, and/or federal mandates. Audit review consists of collaboration with the organization, engaging with stakeholders like employees to verify documentation, and determining a review of the organization’s system. Lastly, the final report consists of drafting a public report on the algorithmic systems to present to the organization.1
The Analysis:
Babl AI offers courses to learn about A.I. ethics and governance, and I decided to take one called, “Finding your place in AI Ethics Consulting”, which is a course that helps guide the participant in finding his or her niche in A.I. ethics. The cornerstone of A.I. ethicists and consultants is spotting A.I. risks [ethical, safety, reputational, and compliance], researching solutions and communicating with stakeholder(s). In the course, I had an exercise to conduct an A.I. audit on an algorithm, provide a review, and stamp the review with an official copyright statement. I appreciated the exercise because it simulates the A.I. audits that Babl auditors and advisors would implement with their clients; specifically, an overview of the algorithmic system, the risks, the mitigation strategy, and final thoughts are essential factors in providing an audit. The second exercise was an introspective one of which I would document my story, interests and education, and future in A.I. ethics; Dr. Shea Brown and Babl AI would provide personalized feedback. I believe the personalized feedback is integral to ensure that I am on the right trajectory in my career; this exercise resonates with me, profoundly, because I believe in writing goals to actualize them. If I merely thought about all the plans of A.I. ethics and governance, I’d find difficulty in defining an aspect or aspects that fascinate me about A.I. governance and ethics. Furthermore, this course has helped to solidify and refine my role in A.I. governance and ethics, and I look forward to working with Dr. Shea Brown and the Babl AI team to create an algorithmic-safe society.
